Program failure during TEST
Versions: 2

If you escape after pressing the TEST button on the Script Writer, the program can fail, requiring that you shut down and re-start PowerPoint.

The workaround for this is to use the "slide show" button in the lower-left of the PowerPoint frames. Just be sure to have Vox Proxy's "run mode" turned on before testing.

Saving scripts with only one slide
Versions: all up to 1.09

When working on a presentation with only a single slide, Vox Proxy may not properly save your script when you save the presentation file. As a workaround, you should click on the Script Writer's Save button before saving the presentation file. This will ensure that the script is saved.

This bug is fixed in Version 1.10.

ALERT: Users of PowerPoint 2002 and 2003
Versions: All Vox Proxy versions

It has come to our attention that during some slide shows, the Vox Proxy character animations and speech slow to nearly a halt for no apparant reason. This problem is related to a PowerPoint 2002/2003 "feature" called "script anchors". Script anchors are a small amber-colored symbol which appears in the middle of your slide, even during a slide show. PowerPoint's Tools/Macro menu contains an item called "Show all script anchors". The presence of a script anchor is an indicator that there is a script saved with that slide.

The slow response problem can occur when you attempt to get rid of the script anchors by clicking OFF this menu item. With the script anchor display off, PowerPoint sometimes consumes all of the computer's CPU resources during a slide show for no apparant reason.

Fortunately, the fix for this problem is relatively simple: Always leave the "Show all script anchors" menu item checked on. To avoid seeing the script anchors during a slide show, just click on the anchor and drag it off of the visible portion of the slide.

The PowerPoint menu item "Show all script anchors" should appear on the Tools/Macros menu. If it does not, go to PowerPoint Help Answer Wizard, type in Script Anchors, then go to the section headed "Add Web script commands to the Tools menu". Follow the instructions there to add script anchor commands to your Tools/Macros menu.
